Highlight of this morning's Bay Area traffic report: a pickup truck has gone over the cliff on Hwy 1 near Pacifica. Search is on for the occupants. I don't know if this would've been a straight plunge into the ocean or a barrel roll down the cliffside, but either way, it wouldn't be a very survivable event.

The first time you drive the Pacific Coast Highway, making hairpin turns hundreds of feet above the ocean — with no guard rail! — you definitely think about it. But I wonder how often it actually happens?
