Jason has left the building

I spent most of my last day actually working. I tied up all the loose ends, attended an only slightly mortifying farewell party, and wondered how long it would take for me to forget all those passwords. My last question at the ref desk (How do I renew books online?) was nothing memorable, but the one before that (I need to learn about the religious history of England and France!) was of the kind that I just live for.

Then I left the building before six, picked up Sarah, and met Jiwon, who'd stood in line for tickets to Fahrenheit 9/11. (That's right: stood in line for tickets...to a documentary.) The eloquent highs are high, the cheap shots are low, and overall it's a very powerful film. And as it shines such a bright light on the mendacity and incomptence of the Bush administration, I appeal to swing voters across the land: Go see this film, please. So we don't get fooled again.

And now it's July 1. Currently foggy and in the upper-50s here in Berkeley. I'm leaving for the High Sierra Music Festival now. Woo hoo!

I think that going to a music festival after ending a job is a great send off and a fabulous new beginning...you couldn't have planned it any better !!!
Love, Mom
