About a dozen people came over earlier this evening, and we all FIRE-HOOPED in my backyard. It was quite spectacular. Vera, Maryann & Aimee all brought their fire-hoops, and we took turns dipping the kevlar wicks in kerosene, lighting up & letting it rip.
The photos are lovely, but what you can't see is the sound, the lucious WHOOOSH of the flames spinning fast around you. It was so intoxicating, even the initally wary Jiwon did it. Yay for all of us!
Posted by Jason at September 15, 2004 02:23 AMit was a blast! :D THANK YOU vera, maryann, & aimee for sharing the hoops, and jason & jiwon for hosting. what an honor and joy to pop my fire hoopin' (and el-wire hoopin') cherry the same evening as so many friends. :) and that whooossh of the flames is luscious indeed!
Posted by: antonia on September 15, 2004 02:42 AMThanks again, Jason! That was super fun! We'll have to do it again soon. Soon we'll all be pyro pro's!
Posted by: Vera on September 15, 2004 08:14 AMYou neglected to mention the loss of your arm hair. i have an interesting black ash smudge burn mark on the bank of my tank top! What fun! What fun!
Posted by: Philo on September 15, 2004 10:12 AMyou aren't supposed to say that! ;0) i told my mom "no, nothing gets burned. the pix make it look "cool" 'cuz they blur the flame but the flames are on 1' spokes from the hoop so they're far away from you."
