As I entertain myself, so those around me are entertained

That previous post below, though ultimately suggesting redemption, is a depressing tale, and not indicative of the truly fabulous times I've been having. So, let me tell you about all the fun I've had the last two weekends. Also, since I no longer have my datebook, if I don't write this down, I'll forget.

Thanksgiving weekend: The three day workweek concluded with a long Wednesday night of dancing in San Francisco. Thanksgiving I did with the RS, a community I've come into in the past year, and that I'm feeling so grateful to be a part of. It was a potluck, with more than fifty of us coming together as a family by choice, and it was most satisfying. On Friday Jiwon came back from Korea, and we went right to Yosemite. I'll just let the photos speak for themselves. It was fantastic.

This past weekend featured a variety of social outings. Friday early evening was the holiday party at my school. It was fun kickin' back with everybody, and I got to introduce Jiwon to many of the students and faculty. After that I went to a house party at Alison's place in the Mission, and then on to what would've been an all-night outdoor dance party, if the police hadn't busted it around 3 o'clock. The party was absolutely raging, and I was in for the long haul, so this was a major buzzkill. It's really unfortunate that this fine underground location has been compromised, but a group of us returned to Alison's and spent the rest of the night enjoying each other's company, and that was good.

I recovered on Saturday in time to pick up Erin and head to the Yahoo! Year End Party down in San Mateo. Erin works at Yahoo!, and asked if I'd be her date. Why not? And indeed, it was a hoot. From the lavish buffet stations, open bars, casino tables and live bands - and all of this on quite a grand scale - I imagine the company probably blew a million dollars to entertain their employees for a night. Erin & I spent the evening wandering & sampling, and feeling like adults. And so in 24 hours I went from the police busting my outdoor, generator-powered freakout in an industrial wasteland to sipping white wine in a coat & tie, groovin' to Earth, Wind & Fire. (Not to say there's no thread connecting the two: the former event is organized through use of a Yahoo! Group. Ha!)

Sunday Jiwon & I went to SF together, first to Union Square to take in the merriment, and then to Debarati's house for a long and leisurely dinner party. Adventuresome food, delightful company, and though they're all academics, the conversation was very wide-ranging, which was nice. For your viewing pleasure, here are a smattering of photos from the weekend. Yay.
